What a great valentines night that was, I could watch it live, so went to support a colleagues band at the "nags head" ... the barman remembered me from 7 years ago, couldnt remember my name , but said "Liverpool , yes?" ... YES!
MY opinion hasnt change much since this;
2017/10/we-are-club-you.html
even though I hate the state of the club , its boardroom directors (except for Kenny, the legend & now "Lfc ambassador") ... and dislike the mentality of many of the modern Lfc fans...
away supporters tend to be more "professional" and theres not much to beat watching the team away, however often the before & after is the best part... I was at Porto last time... but I think this performance was almost as good as any away ... although winning at Bernabeu, Nou Camp, velodrome (4 goals inc Torres Slalom) GrAZ (Rafas first with a Stevie brace) are highlights , the memories and songs are vivid and bring back so many special memories...
dont usually watch the redmen videos, too full of themselves for my taste and CP actaully wanted moreNO for this game ...but this (link) is nice and reminds me of the many "away days" I had in europe following Rafas Reds and before... I wont put a penny in the coffers of the current fraudulent infestors.. so I wont be at Anfield or on such trips unless they are gone and replaced by honest managers...
The Game ,...
which i watched after , in calm perspective, was impressive, a little bit of luck, Octavio (?) shot deflected just over the bar by Dejans block, could have caused some problems if porto had got that early goal, but the Florescent Oranges ("FlOranges") ... were up for it,
no tiredness from the soton game until late on when Hendo, Wijn & Milly all looked slighly jaded... (Hendo replaced by Matip... which is my slight criticism of JK's "habit" of putting on a defender for midfield or attacker late on... ok it meant VVD having more forward play ... but as the 4 3 3 was working so well, I would have thought an almost like for Like ...ish.. Lallana needs match fitness... another half an hour may have done his game more good than a few mins for matip. (as I say this is not my idea of a good tactical "habit" by JK) ...
Anyway, pundits and fans raving , rightly , about the FAB THREE (Free?)
...yeah, ok lets call them the "fab free" because the are free- flowing ..but for me the whole team looked sharp, VVD for me is better twinned with dejan or Klavan.. RB Trent was in good form, looking fit and sound as was Robbo on the left flank, both put in good shifts and centered , covering and passing well...
"the Firm"., his usual high work-rate, .. linking play , back tracking , pressing and a smooth take of the fourth goal, also put his head into it, unlucky not to get on the end of a Robbo cross...
MANE finally found his form amd the net THREE times, and hopefully that is a sign that will continue for the rest of the season because I dont see ANY defence stopping the 3, and MO SALAH scored the 2nd killer goal as if he was playing in a "futsal" game! ;)
MIDFIELD TRIO
for me the midfield of Hendo, and especially Milly and MY MOTM ; Wijnaldum! put in one hell of a shift, closing down, pressing HOUNDING the porto players all over the pitch, Gini had for me a good game at Soton, but last night was one of his best , he really looked up for it.. and full of energy, almost 90 minutes of non stop running... and although SA porto goalie, should have saved sadios first goal, Wijn. set it up by charging at the home defence...
Soares had a half chance at the end of the first half and Karius saved well towards the end ..
other than that he was hardly tested... even putting on JESUS C. couldnt save Porto...

and stats, not sponsored lies this time;
- Liverpool registered the joint-biggest away Champions League knockout win, equalling Bayern Munich's 5-0 win at Sporting Lisbon in February 2009 and Real Madrid's at Schalke in February 2014.
- This is Porto's heaviest home European defeat and the first time they have conceded more than three goals in a home European match.
- Liverpool are the first English side to score five goals in an away Champions League knockout match.
- Mohamed Salah became the first Liverpool player to score 30 goals in all competitions in a single season since Luis Suarez (31) in 2013-14.
- Salah has now scored in five consecutive matches in all competitions, the first Reds player to achieve that feat since Divock Origi in December 2016.
- Trent Alexander-Arnold became the youngest Liverpool player to feature in a Champions League knockout match, aged 19 years and 130 days.
- Alexander-Arnold is the fifth youngest Englishman to feature in a Champions League knockout game, behind only Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jack Wilshere and Wayne Rooney.
- Liverpool have won four matches by five or more goals in all competitions this season, the first time they have achieved that since the 1985-86 season (five victories by that margin).
